Substance use is a battle that affects not only those facing it but also their family, friends, neighbors, and coworkers. It can disrupt lives, relationships, and careers. However, amidst the struggle, there is hope. Professional help is a crucial step toward recovery, and Turning Point Behavioral Health is committed to providing the support needed for a fresh start.
If you’re wondering if inpatient behavioral health programs might be the answer for you or someone you love, our team shares what you need to know about their effectiveness—how they work and what to expect.
Understanding Inpatient Programs
Inpatient programs offer a unique treatment experience where individuals stay at a treatment center for a set period. These programs provide a comprehensive, structured environment dedicated to healing and recovery. Unlike outpatient treatments, inpatient care offers round-the-clock support.
As a result, this can help clients dealing with substance use issues better prepare for and transition to outpatient care.
How Inpatient Programs Work
The first step often involves the treatment center assessing the client to understand their background, experiences, medical needs, etc. For instance, Turning Point Behavioral Health conducts a preliminary screening to ensure we offer services that appropriately meet your needs. Information requested during the initial consultation includes:
- Basic personal information of the client (Client must be 18 years of age)
- The client’s background (substance/addiction/mental health)
- Accurate contact information + secondary point of contact
- ID and insurance card information
- List of current medications (Turning Point does not allow outside medication in during intake, including over-the-counter medications)
- Primary care provider of the client
Within 72 hours, we will conduct a comprehensive assessment, complete with essential lab work, while collaborating with the client’s primary care provider.
Once you are a client of Turning Point, we blend therapy, medical oversight, and life skills training to help you address the underlying issues contributing to your challenges while developing healthier coping mechanisms. We believe in the power of commitment, encouraging clients to stay a minimum of 30 days, though our programs can extend to six months.
Effectiveness of Inpatient Programs
Studies indicate that individuals who complete these programs experience significantly higher success rates compared to those who attempt recovery on their own. Inpatient care provides a structured environment with comprehensive support, which is crucial for individuals dealing with complex mental health and substance use issues.
Personal stories from those who have completed inpatient programs often highlight profound transformations in mental health, life perspectives, and overall well-being. These testimonials serve as a powerful testament to the transformative impact of structured, supportive environments, which offer individuals the tools and resilience needed to rebuild their lives and maintain long-term recovery.
Benefits of Inpatient Care
Inpatient programs offer unique advantages, starting with a safe and structured setting that removes triggers and distractions. This environment allows for focused healing with 24/7 support from trained professionals. Access to Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and art therapy ensures a holistic approach to recovery. These programs also emphasize community, fostering connections with others on similar journeys.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) (LIN TO OCTOBER BLOG) is a therapeutic method that helps individuals pinpoint and transform the negative thoughts and behaviors that fuel substance use. Through this approach, individuals learn to identify the specific triggers that lead to substance use, manage them effectively, and employ smart coping strategies.
By exploring the intricate connection between thoughts, emotions, and actions, CBT empowers individuals to make impactful and lasting changes.
This Could Be Your Turning Point in Life
Inpatient programs have been proven to be effective in guiding individuals toward recovery. While they offer a structured pathway to healing and provide tools and support, it’s up to the individual to take the first step toward reclaiming their life.
